About: The debut album of the beloved, Big Star is comprised of Chris Bell and Alex Chilton’s collaborative songwriting–influenced and fueled by the idealistic McCartney-Lennon numbers they both so admired. Because of Bell’s interest in production, #1 Record sounds more polished than subsequent albums on which he no longer collaborated.     
Why it’s worth your time: Hmm does “In The Street” sound familiar–yes, indeed, it is the very song That 70’s Show theme was based off of. For many reasons other than that one, this album is essential listening and another work of Big Star’s taking a high spot on the list of best rock records of all time.
