If you like: 60’s girl groups, this is essential listening!
About: The Chiffons were a girl group originally comprised of Judy Craig, Patricia Bennett, Barbara Lee, and later Sylvia Peterson. Almost immediately after releasing their first hit single “He’s So Fine” (penned by Ronnie Mack), the group released their first LP by the same name on Laurie Records.
Why it’s worth your time: Rich vocal harmonies perpetuate a warm, fuzzy teenage feeling. Bonus: George Harrison was sued for plagiarising “He’s So Fine”–with its iconic doo-lang doo-lang vocal harmonies–in his song, “My Sweet Lord”. The Chiffons later covered “My Sweet Lord”, listen here.
