If you like: The Beau Brummels and The Beach Boys, this is a great addition to your collection.
About: The Tikis were a surf/British beat-style quartet from Santa Cruz, CA, who released a pair of above-average singles for Autumn Records in 1965. And had it not been for a chance decision by the band to change their name [to Harpers Bizarre] on an experimental recording in early 1967, they'd likely be better known today.*via Bruce Eder, Rovi
Why it’s worth your time: The Tikis were another exceptional Bay area band on the Autumn label (along with The Beau Brummels, The Great Society, The Mojo Men, and even Sly Stewart who would later form the great Sly & The Family Stone). And although their time as The Tikis was short-lived, it was fruitful and a vital hint at the budding talent in San Francisco.
